Minnesota professor pledges to desecrate Eucharist

Not only are Christians under threat from trendy synods, but that other powerhouse of liberal (sic) extremism, the secular education system, has trumped the efforts of hip Anglicans to steal the news this week. The Catholic League reports that an American university professor was so "angry" by the way a student who held a consecrated Host "hostage" was criticised by The Catholic League, he intends desecrating the Eucharist in a public display of hatred for Christ and the Church.

The Catholic League News Release reads:

Paul Zachary Myers, a professor at the University of Minnesota Morris, has pledged to desecrate the Eucharist. He is responding to what happened recently at the University of Central Florida when a student walked out of Mass with the Host, holding it hostage for several days. Myers was angry at the Catholic League for criticizing the student. His post can be accessed from his faculty page on the university’s website.

Here is an excerpt of his July 8 post, “It’s a Frackin’ Cracker!”:

“Can anyone out there score me some consecrated communion wafers?” Myers continued by saying, “if any of you would be willing to do what it takes to get me some, or even one, and mail it to me, I’ll show you sacrilege, gladly, and with much fanfare. I won’t be tempted to hold it hostage (no, not even if I have a choice between returning the Eucharist and watching Bill Donohue kick the pope in the balls, which would apparently be a more humane act than desecrating a goddamned cracker), but will instead treat it with profound disrespect and heinous cracker abuse, all photographed and presented here on the web.”

Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded as follows:

“The Myers blog can be accessed from the university’s website. The university has a policy statement on this issue which says that the ‘Contents of all electronic pages must be consistent with University of Minnesota policies, local, state and federal laws.’ One of the school’s policies, ‘Code of Conduct,’ says that ‘When dealing with others,’ faculty et al. must be ‘respectful, fair and civil.’ Accordingly, we are contacting the President and the Board of Regents to see what they are going to do about this matter. Because the university is a state institution, we are also contacting the Minnesota legislature.

“It is hard to think of anything more vile than to intentionally desecrate the Body of Christ. We look to those who have oversight responsibility to act quickly and decisively.”

Please pray for Professor Myers, who is clearly a troubled soul. I notice from his blog profile that he is a fan of Dr Dawkins, poor man. Also, please contact President Robert Bruininks at bruin001@umn.edu to express your concern about this professor's behaviour.

I REALLY CANT IMAGINE ANYONE having hatred for Christ, thats weird, actually kind of sick for sure. ..
BUT hatred for the CHURCH is totally justifiable, all one has to do is LOOK at its previous history , the tortures killings and maiming, the endless abuse of innocent people, the murders and the cultures that have been beat into religious submission [ Diego De Landra sicko Jesuit that killed hundreds in Mezzo America comes to mind] that were created in wars that the church have been responsible for.
Hated for CHRIST?? ….. UNACCEPTABLE
HATRED for the CHURCH?? ……. TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE.. its getting its OWN just reward for the centuries of abuse it has created through their temples of GLOOM AND DOOM called CHURCHES. .

sattvicwarrior says in his list of interests on his blog that he is "dispelling ignorence" may I suggest he take the plank out of his own eye first... or buy a dictionary

Sattvicwarrior, aren't you reading a biased history book!

Next time you go to a hospital, a school, a care home, etc, etc, etc; just remember, it was the Church that first gave these to us. In the UK, we are celebrating the founding of our National Health Service. The truth is, we had a national health service long before, which survived for centuries and then came to an abrupt end in the C16: it was called the monasteries. Your history book probably tells you that England under Elizabeth I was a glorious time. The truth is, thanks to her father, Henry VIII, the sick had nowhere to go for care and treatment.

The Church may not be perfect, but what can humanists offer instead?

Mr Warrior Sir,

OK so Christ is cool, but you don't think much of his bride (the Church)do you? Christ loves his bride so hating her isn't going to please Him much. So either you don't like Christ or you just don't understand His bride. I suggest you go find out more about them both.

Love
Rita

.. your quite right. there are MANY dedicated and loving people administering to those less fortunate, and they are indeed blessed people and the world should be thankful for them .
They keep the world in a good state, giving is what its all about , and to give unselfishly with out expecting anything in return is the highest .. Those people are NOT what I am talking about
..
thanks:)

.. totally wierd analogy, a sweeping romantic generalization for sure. but thanks for the thought, that was nice of you.

ukok .What an absolute idiot.
.."absolute?? idiot?? is that the same as a TOTAL idiot? does " absolute" constitiute a FINAL of what an IDIOT is supposd to be?? Have you come to this conclusion because you associate and have a VAST history with IDIOTS? It is said that pretty much everything around us is nothing more than a reflection of our own inner selves. ? SO is there TRUTH in what you say UKOK?? recognizing the ABSOLUTE one would assume YOUR word is LAW. Perhaps I am a relfection of your OWN inner self and you recognize me as such.
WELCOME SISTER. now there are TWO of us

Sattvicwarrior, I think UKOK was referring to the professor.

referring or judging. ponte??..
..[ I took it personally of course as . c'mon . .. dude!!!!!!
my comments are “ outside” the box” so to speak and I'm used to it. ]. but I DID handle it with dignity .. thanks for posting it:)].
but what of this dude?
Is it wrong for a man to make a statement to attract attention to a particular ritual which is taken for granted as part of ones daily mundane association with god consciousness?
of course some of it was a bit extreme . like kicking the pope in his VERY tiny whatever , yet hardly a DENT in his bejeweled [ again no pun] ROBES what HIS race did by killing 6 million Jews when he was a member of the Nazi youth groups/ .. and you KNOW how SADISTIC Germans can be,,,,, anyway. that's something else. ].
but an act of taking the Eucharist out of frustration or whatever just might give one reason to pause and reassess what is actually going ON here.
if CHRIST was before me I would bow and weep with humility. but to pretend that a “ ritual” holds the same standard is ludicrous by ANY standard ,
and to perpetuate it by an act of centuries of a collective consciousness, because of their exposure to said ritual as absolute fact and is NEVER to be challenged is an insult
to CHRIST and has nothing to do with CHRIST but EVERYTHING to do with the conformation of ones own existence, which , if one takes the time, to read what Christ said, is TRANSITORY and not permanent.
what is this dude insulting??
when you look at the ocean what do you see??
waves?? swells?? tides?? foam?? WRONG
all you see is WATER!!!!!!!!!
its that simple.
the other attributes that are injected are the result of what MAN thinks makes it a viable force within nature.
but
because of the transitory nature of its existence . [ NO sense of PERMANENCE]\
dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its NOT real!!!!!
so how can a “ cracker” be violated.
is the SYMBOL more profound than the actual EXPERIENCE of CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS which is within ones own spiritual well being [ and reach]???

ones CONNECTION and inner self enquiry brings one to his simple message.
LOVE
HUMILITY
INCLUSION
we are all the same. JUDGE NOT..
If one doesn't like what others say??
cool dude!!!!!!!!
that's NOT your problem as you walk along a path to understand your own connection with god.
I would think here
DETACHMENT is the KEY to ones own { spiritual liberation ]
I have found out that is NOT what other people think or do, but its HOW I can LOVE them for what they are, [ tis what Christ I feel was teaching] and NOT for what I want them to BE. [ tis what my EGO holds me back to condemn which I dont understand ]
Regrettably contemporary "Christianity is about "EXCLUSION and not "INCLUSION ". …
but Dont take my word for it. find out four YOUR SELF..
ponte dude. do YOU know what THAT IS??????.. the SELF??

When a spoilt brat of a kid does something vile-well you can say poor kid, if only his parents had taken more care in his upbringing.
But this is an adult-and someone who apparently has a responsible role!! Prayers have been said and I will continue to say them.
May Christ have Mercy on these miserable, ugly people.
And why have so many so-called Christians forgotten the 8th commandment I wonder.

.. Maybe because they are to busy condeming and judgeing OTHER christians [ those " miserable and ugly" people as you call them ??
Finding fault in others is really a lifetime of a bad habit from with I have observed dont you think?.

Gosh, haven't i been missing out on all this stuff going on!

Sattviwarrior, i was not directing my comment toward you, it was an obsevation about the absolute, (meaning 'in the fullness of all posibility of being')idiot, the proffesor.

Some of the things you write may be idiotic but you aren't an idiot.

The professor is an idiot because he is threatening to behave as childishly as the equally stupid student who took the Eucharist in the first place.

sattvicwarrior makes a classic error of attribution - he clearly doesn't know the difference between The Church and the church. We Catholics recognize that the church is filled with sinners (100% of us to be exact) and that many of those people have done terrible things in the name of God and The Church. But we Catholics also recognize that The Church is not simply the people - The Church has two distinct parts - the Body (the people) and the Head (Jesus Christ). The Church is not evil, nor has it ever taught or endorsed killing, maiming, abuse, torture etc. The Church has always taught exactly the opposite. Despite The Church's teachings there have been members of the Body of the Church who have tended to interpret the Church's teachings in ways not intended. Methinks you might avail yourself of some real history, history not written by someone with a chip on their shoulder (either FOR or AGAINST the Church) and find out that things might be quite different today (and I don't mean for the better) had it not been for the millions of good, dedicated members of the Body of Christ's Church. I might add that we Catholics consider you also to be a member of Christ's Body, The Church.

dudeiene [ female for the word DUDE but spelled wrong I think]. thanks to the dude that presents this blog I REALIZE that.
sorry. I am the IDIOT.
. my apologies. I surf into a territory with a group of peeps that may or may not have an already established dialogue, and I do my typical slash and burn technique to make a point which has NOTHING to do with what you say. c'mon . look at my PIC. I'm BLOND. [ also POLISH]. the conclusion here is . ALL THOSE DUMB BLOND AND POLISH JOKES are TRUE. . [ well at least 99% of them are. . I stand as the PERFECT example.

Some of the things you write may be idiotic but you aren't an idiot.
that's for ME to decide thank you :)

The professor is an idiot because he is threatening to behave as childishly as the equally stupid student who took the Eucharist in the first place.
. DO you see what you are doing? your making a judgment and a categorization of someone whose history you dont know? Is this FAIR??
is your assessment accurate?? What motivated this dude to create such an action ??
is there possibly an inbred frustration over the years of seeing the “SAME OLE SAME OLE” mentality and the church [ or any particular dogma] getting away with possibly the same old OUTDATED DOGMA??..
the EUCARIST… regardless if you agree or not is NOT Christ but a SYMBOL..
your MIND is NOT a symbol but it is the CONNECTION with the ACTUALTY of BEING. ..
is a SYMBOL more IMPORTANT than CHRIST? [ sounds like smoke and mirrors to me.. ]
the very catalyst you call and IDIOT can be the breath of fresh air to cause you to re-asses your investment in Christ consciousness.
The most beautiful Lily on a summer pond arises out of PURE FILTH darkness and DECAY..
yet you delight in the LILY and not the whole process of what it took to become that. its ALL connected. you cannot separate the two,
thanks
your IDIOT in Christ..
or sattvicwarrior if you so prefer

actually you have a good point { by the way.. is there REALLY a ST BLOG?? like .. I mean dude. is your HALO made out of PIXELS or whatever? ....anyway. on to other things] you made a very good point and its my jumping to conclusions that got me in trouble with the author of this blog ..
. We Catholics recognize that the church is filled with sinners (100% of us to be exact)
. WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DUDE SPEAK FOR YOURSELF. . how dare you categorize other people in your vision of who is what and what is not?? it reminds me of a poem that may very well have been written by one of your relatives[ that is of course if the DNA filters down . ] the TITLE of the POEM IS. “ tortoise sitting in a clump of hollyhocks in the noon day sun”.
THE POEM
AS FAR AS I CAN SEE… THERE IS NO ONE BUT ME!!!!!!... does it hit HOME??? nawwwwwwww I didn’t think so
.
and that many of those people have done terrible things in the name of God and The Church...
AND they STILL do. just look at your reigning masterpiece called the POPE. [ dear blog dude. I was being NICE ok ??? I hope I'm within your parameters of expression ] ...
But we Catholics also recognize that The Church is not simply the people - The Church has two distinct parts - the Body (the people) and the Head (Jesus Christ). The Church is not evil, nor has it ever taught or endorsed killing, maiming, abuse, torture etc.
tell that to the people that were tortured and killed during the inquisition opps sorry. you CANT they were MURDERED in the name of GOD
The Church has always taught exactly the opposite. Despite The Church's teachings there have been members of the Body of the Church who have tended to interpret the Church's teachings in ways not intended.
.. agreed but...do you deny the fact that the CRUSADES existed.??? to KILL MUSLIMS, who worship the SAME god as Christians?? the inquisition?? the murder of Mezzo American children that when they were baptized to be saved only to have their HEADS bashed in and killed so they wouldn’t revert to their “ pagan” ways?? is that NOT intended as truth not intended? is it fact that did NOT exist? or the POPES [ of auvignon for example who named their OWN children as popes as they lived their decadent lifestyle ..
Methinks you might avail yourself of some real history, history not written by someone with a chip on their shoulder (either FOR or AGAINST the Church) ..
.. ge thats kinda contradictory isnt it . sounds you you wnt your cake and eat it to .. is that CHIP on someone’s shoulder called REALITY CHECK????..
and find out that things might be quite different today (and I don't mean for the better) had it not been for the millions of good, dedicated members of the Body of Christ's Church.
there is NO doubt in my mind that there is goodness which does abound,, and their base is the church, as I know MANY of them who work with the sick and lost etc… but those sainted souls who look for no glory as the church of today does. they work silently and are in connection with the eyes and soul of their creator, they need NO dogma nor justification of their actions because it is coming from the SOURCE itself. GOD. THEY are the TRUE WARRIORS of the church today.
I might add that we Catholics consider you also to be a member of Christ's Body,
...awwwwww dude. thanks . . I think ill celebrate and have a chocolate truffle and chase it down with a martini made with holy water [ filtered of course, shaken but not stired ] …its NOT about YOU or any organization or their thoughts . its about ones personal connection with god. its that simple , and having grown up with SERIOUS catholic background, and reviewing its history. I find it a bit of an embarrassment after all those centuries of brainwashing brought up to date in contemporary society.
